Media companies do not necessarily need more content. They need the content they already produce to travel further.
Berlin-based beatsquares has raised $2 million in seed funding to scale its AI communications platform for publishers, brands, communication teams, and thought leaders. The round was co-led by IBB Ventures and XTR Capital, with participation from ddvg, V-Ventures, and additional business angels. The financing follows a $500,000 pre-seed round completed in October 2024.
The company will use the capital to expand its team, develop the product, and support international growth.
One source, multiple audience formats
Founded by René Bosch, Mark Page, and Peter Dyllick-Brenzinger, beatsquares positions itself as an AI operating system for professional communication. Its agents analyze existing material—including articles, reports, interviews, newsletters, and internal content—and adapt it for different audiences and channels.
The platform can turn source content into newsletters, podcasts, WhatsApp channels, social posts, and on-site products, while supporting curation, fact verification, publishing, and optimization. Editorial teams retain approval control before material goes live.
That workflow targets a persistent media problem: high-quality reporting often produces most of its value shortly after publication, even though the underlying research may remain useful for months or years.
beatsquares is betting that AI can increase the return on research by packaging credible information for the formats and platforms each audience already uses.
Early deployments show the model
The company says its platform is already used by organizations including Süddeutsche Zeitung, Tagesspiegel, Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, and Messe Berlin.
Tagesspiegel uses beatsquares to automate parts of its newsletter production, with the company reporting a 50% reduction in production time per edition. Süddeutsche Zeitung has used the platform to create local WhatsApp channels that attracted more than 10,000 subscriptions within several months. Messe Berlin also used it to produce a daily multilingual podcast for ITB Berlin. These performance figures are company-reported.
The market signal
Generative AI has made content creation easier. The harder commercial problem is deciding which content should reach which audience, in which format, and through which channel.
That moves the opportunity beyond generic text generation.
beatsquares is building around the distribution layer: verified source material enters the system, AI agents adapt it, editorial teams approve it, and the platform publishes and improves the output across channels.
The challenge will be maintaining factual accuracy, editorial voice, and brand trust as automation scales. Publishers will also expect measurable results in subscriptions, engagement, conversion, or production efficiency—not simply a higher volume of generated content.
The larger shift is that AI in media is moving from writing assistance toward audience orchestration.
beatsquares is betting that the strongest communication platforms will not replace editorial judgment. They will make trusted information work harder after the original article, report, or announcement is published.
