Navi Raises A$6.8M to Launch Neonav Across US Hospitals

Medical equipment used in neonatal care is often adapted from technology originally designed for larger patients. Navi Medical Technologies is trying to close that gap.
The Melbourne- and Boston-based company has raised A$6.8 million to commercialize its Neonav ECG Tip Location System in the United States. Healthcare investor KP Rx contributed A$4 million, with Pacific Channel joining the round and Innovation Victoria continuing its support.
Neonav is designed for one of the more difficult procedures in neonatal and paediatric intensive care: placing and managing central venous access devices used to deliver medication, nutrition and fluids.
The system measures intravascular ECG signals to help clinicians identify the position of a catheter tip during placement. It can also support ongoing monitoring if the catheter moves later, potentially reducing reliance on repeated imaging in some clinical situations. Navi states that catheter misplacement or migration can damage the heart or surrounding tissue, particularly in very small patients.
The technology received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2025. An expanded indication announced in 2026 added support for umbilical venous catheters and devices as small as 1 Fr, including use across neonatal, paediatric and adult populations. Clinical evaluations are underway at two US children’s hospitals.
Navi’s founding team brings together medical, engineering, operational and commercial experience. It includes Alex Newton, CEO and Executive Director; Associate Professor Christiane Theda, CMO and Executive Director; Wei Sue, Non-Executive Director; Mubin Yousuf, CTO; Shing Yue Sheung, COO; and Brad Bergmann, CFO.
The funding will support manufacturing, US commercial hiring and the rollout of Neonav into children’s hospitals. Commercial sales are expected to begin in 2026.
Navi has completed an important regulatory step. Its next challenge is proving that Neonav can become part of routine vascular-access practice across busy neonatal and pediatric units.
