India: OMSPACE Rocket and Exploration Pvt. Ltd. has completed the Nose Cone and Kick Stage of its Infinity One reusable launch vehicle, marking a significant engineering milestone in the development of its indigenous launch system for small and nano satellites.

Achieved in September 2026, the milestone marks the progression of Infinity One from design and simulation towards the development and integration of physical rocket hardware. The two components have been designed, engineered and developed as part of OMSPACE’s in-house rocket development programme.

The Nose Cone, positioned at the forward section of the vehicle, is designed to manage airflow and reduce aerodynamic drag during atmospheric flight while protecting the payload and internal components. The Kick Stage is designed to provide the final propulsion and structural support required to help place the payload into its intended orbit.

The completion of these components enables OMSPACE to move into the next phase of integration and validation. The company will now focus on integrating the Nose Cone, Kick Stage and other vehicle components, followed by structural and functional testing, subsystem validation and progressive vehicle-level testing.

Infinity One is being developed as a reusable launch vehicle focused on dedicated access to Low Earth Orbit for small and nano satellites, with a publicly disclosed payload capability of up to 500 kg to LEO. Its development involves capabilities across rocket structures, advanced composites, propulsion, additive manufacturing, avionics and stage systems.

Commenting on the milestone, Dr. Ravindra Raj BM, Founder & CEO, OMSPACE Rocket & Exploration Pvt. Ltd., said:
“The completion of the Nose Cone and Kick Stage is an important step in taking Infinity One from engineering design into physical hardware. These milestones reflect our growing in-house capabilities across rocket development, engineering and manufacturing. We are now focused on integrating these systems, validating their performance and progressively moving the vehicle towards future flight testing.”

With this milestone, OMSPACE will continue the development of Infinity One through component integration, subsystem validation and further structural, functional and vehicle-level testing, as the company progresses towards future flight-test activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

OMSpace has announced an engineering milestone involving the nose cone and kick stage of its Infinity One project, marking progress in the development of these components.
A nose cone helps protect a launch vehicle's payload and reduce aerodynamic drag during atmospheric flight. Its design depends on the vehicle's configuration and mission requirements.
A kick stage is an additional propulsion stage used to adjust a spacecraft's trajectory or deliver a payload to its intended orbit after the initial launch phases.
Engineering milestones help demonstrate progress in component design, manufacturing, integration and testing before a space system advances toward subsequent development stages.
The milestone indicates progress in the development of the nose cone and kick stage. Its broader implications depend on the project's subsequent testing, integration and launch schedule.

ICEYE Wins First Scaleup Europe Fund Investment

Europe has spent years producing promising technology companies. The harder task has been giving them enough growth capital to scale globally without moving their centre of gravity elsewhere. ICEYE has now become the first investment made by the Scaleup Europe Fund, a European Commission-initiated vehicle managed by EQT. The fund co-led ICEYE’s recently announced €1 […]
