AI can already help write a presentation. The harder part is turning research, notes, and ideas into something structured, visual, and ready to present.
OpenAI has acquired the AI presentation startup, with the NextSlide team now working on ChatGPT. Financial terms were not disclosed. Founder Ahmed Beshry said the acquisition took place earlier in 2026, months before the public announcement.
NextSlide was built to turn prompts, notes, documents, and research into polished, editable presentations. Its value was not just generating slide text, but helping users move from raw information to a finished visual format.
That fits naturally with how ChatGPT is increasingly used today. Users already bring in research, meeting notes, strategy documents, and outlines. Presentations are often the next step.
NextSlide adds expertise in the part that comes after the thinking: organizing information visually and making it easier to communicate.
Beshry previously co-founded Caper AI, the smart-cart startup acquired by Instacart in 2021, giving the team prior experience building and exiting an AI company.
OpenAI is moving beyond generating answers toward helping users turn ideas and research into finished work. NextSlide brings experience in one of the most important final steps: turning information into clear, editable visual communication.
