Perceptual Robotics Raises £4M for Wind Turbine Inspections

Wind turbines lose value when small blade defects are discovered too late.
Perceptual Robotics has secured more than £4 million during 2026 to expand its autonomous inspection and maintenance technology. The funding combines backing from Investing for Purpose, Loggerhead Ventures and One Planet Capital with support co-funded by Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation.
The Bristol company was founded by Kostas Karachalios, Dimitris Nikolaidis and Kevin Lind after their work began at the University of Bristol. The team later developed the business through the Bristol Robotics Laboratory incubator, combining experience in robotics, drones, cloud computing and AI.
Its platform uses autonomous drones to capture detailed images of turbine blades. AI then identifies damage, compares it with earlier inspections and helps operators decide which repairs require immediate attention.
The company offers Dot, a fully autonomous system for larger inspection campaigns, and Eve, a smaller drone designed for urgent or targeted checks. Its Repair Now Ratio ranks defects by their likely impact, helping maintenance teams prioritize limited budgets and repair capacity.
Perceptual Robotics says its technology is now used across Europe, North America, Latin America and other international markets. The new funding will support further product development, entry into new regions and stronger offshore inspection capabilities.
The company is not only trying to collect better blade images. Its larger aim is to turn inspection data into faster maintenance decisions and keep turbines operating for longer.
