Equity analysts rarely struggle to find information. The harder problem is reviewing thousands of filings, earnings calls, market updates and company disclosures before the information loses its value.
New York-based Pinegap has raised $8 million in Series A funding, led by Stellaris Venture Partners. Existing investors Inventus, Silicon Valley Quad and DeVC also participated. The company previously secured a $2.5 million Seed round in 2024.
In 2024, Deepak Sharma and Ankit Varmani started Pinegap to build an AI-powered research platform for institutional equity analysts and portfolio managers. Sharma leads the company as CEO, while Varmani brings more than 15 years of Wall Street experience and oversees business development, partnerships and go-to-market activity.
Pinegap’s pitch goes beyond giving analysts another chatbot. Its proactive AI agents automatically generate earnings previews, company primers and market updates based on each investment firm’s strategy and data. The platform also supports thesis tracking, idea generation, earnings analysis, risk monitoring and comparisons across companies.
The company says it has deployed more than 1,000 agents across over 100 institutional clients, producing upwards of 50,000 research reports each month. Dealroom reports that Pinegap launched commercially in the first quarter of 2025 and charges approximately $6,000 per user on a subscription basis.
The new funding will support a larger engineering team, stronger customer support, sales and marketing expansion, and the creation of an internal team of former equity research analysts. Pinegap expects that domain specialists will help its agents better reflect how professional investors investigate companies and maintain conviction over time.
Pinegap is entering a crowded market for AI-powered financial research, but its differentiation rests on shifting analysts from reactive searches toward continuous, personalized monitoring.
